Dr. Matthew Hurd is a dual board-certified Dentist Anesthesiologist (American Dental Board of Anesthesiology & National Dental Board of Anesthesiology) and founder of MH Dental Anesthesia, a mobile office-based anesthesia practice serving the San Francisco Bay Area.
He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at UCSF School of Dentistry, followed by a residency in Dental Anesthesiology at The Ohio State University, one of the nation's leading programs. His clinical background includes decades of experience in pre-hospital and emergency medicine since 2004, combined with hospital- and office-based anesthesia.

The Day of Your Procedure
Upon arrival, we will greet you and review the anesthesia plan together, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect.
Dr. Hurd remains with the patient throughout the entire procedure, continuously monitoring with the same equipment and safety standards used in hospital settings.
Our approach is unhurried and attentive. We move at a pace that prioritizes comfort, safety, and a calm experience for every patient.

Waking Up After Anesthesia
Patients typically wake up gradually, often within minutes after the procedure is complete.
It is normal to feel groggy, emotional, or disoriented as anesthesia wears off. Our team will be there to explain what to expect and provide guidance during recovery.
Before you leave, you will receive clear, personalized post-operative instructions to help ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery at home.

I am so grateful to Dr. Hurd. When my son was 3, he had to undergo full anesthesia for a procedure. I was extremely nervous, especially not being in a hospital but Dr. Hurd was absolutely amazing. He had great bedside manner, a very gentle demeanor that put both my very shy son and myself at ease. He was thorough in his explanations. After the procedure, my son was quite out of it for a while and Dr. Hurd encouraged me to give him as much time as he needed and not rush to take him home so that Dr. Hurd could ensure everything was alright. He also helped us to the car when we were eventually ready, helping me hold my things and opened the door as I had my son in my arms, before giving final instructions and tips. I could not recommend Dr. Hurd enough, especially for younger children. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The team did a great job during the surgery. Especially Dr. Hurd's experience. This is first time I woke up from surgery without nausea and vomiting from anesthesia and pain killers. I should have done the both parts of my mouth.
